I love all these tips, but I got an unexpected burst of excitement to see the Dekalb Farmers Market mentioned! My sister lived in Atlanta for about 8 years and talked about it constantly. When I finally visited it with her, it was SO much more than I had imagined it would be. It was fun to have that memory brought to the forefront of my mind tonight!

I loved reading this - that place is wonderful. I love that Atlanta metro has so many "international farmers market” grocery stores (Buford Highway, Lake City, I think there are others I’m forgetting.) I was so so so lucky to live within walking distance of DeKalb Farmers Market in my first Atlanta home. We coul see it from the living room window (sort of.) I still work less than ten minutes from it, so I could go more often (and I should. But at least we are close to an H-Mart now.) I still remember the tricks for finding things on sale and avoiding crowds (go on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, or any holiday that they are open, such as Easter, and any evening around 8pm. If you must go at a busy time, use the far door by the meat and deli section, not the door by the produce section. Park in the small lot off Annie Street if you don’t mind walking more but want to avoid the mayhem of the main parking lot. Yellow stickers are 20% off, orange are 50%. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are not only less crowded, but more stuff is marked down!)

iNaturalist is the best! I held off for a while because I did not like the location tracking aspect but then kind of fell for it after talking to someone else for my garden podcast who really loved it. And here I am 11K observations later...lol Always be iNatting! Weird pattern on a plant? Must be a virus! Looks like I'm #10 for my county, I'm not very high for Texas because we have a couple of very die hard iNatters and the state is so large. A lot of mine are out of state, too. But you are right, nature is everywhere!

That reminds me of when I looked at the rankings for Florida. This was years ago, and the top iNatter had something like 40,000 observations for the state. I bet that's even higher now! I am at 27k total and ... I remember a few years ago trying to get to 2,000 by the end of the Rutgers Personal Bioblitz for that year! AND I have a huge backlog of photos I still haven't processed, because my system is chaotic.
