Sarah, this is such a beautiful story ending in your much needed wise suggestions for surviving the cruelty and vindictive climate in our poor country, which is as wounded as your tiny squirrel.

I find all of this worthy & thank you for writing it. It’s much the way I feel at the present moment. Saddened by my lack of ability to afford much change to the things happening in the world I hear on the news & see happening all around me when I leave “my place”. I too, will continue to document my own experiences with nature in an effort to influence & touch others the way nature brings me joy & grounds me. Thank you, again.

I'm cheering you on - even when the work is not particularly cheerful. Thank you for being a warm and caring presence for those in need. You're an inspiration. And I'd like to add an exclamation mark to your words:

"I cannot singlehandedly undo systems of injustice. But I can take care of my community. I can focus my power where it is most effective. I can write, I can inform, and I can influence. But sometimes, all I can do is a little. All I can do is give someone a few more good days. And sometimes, as with the sick robin, all I can do is bear witness and document."
